Blue Out

It was a sea of blue down the halls of Crisp County Middle School on Wednesday! The Cougar family came together to honor one of our very own Joshua Grandas known to many as "Big Kuntry." Joshua would have been a senior this year, but tragically lost his battle to cancer in May after fighting for nearly three years. Though cancer took him from us far too soon, his legacy continues to shine.

CCMS Principal Stacy Stephens along with several other administrative leaders passed out water bottles to students and faculty today that read, "The sun is gold, the sky is blue. We are always cheering for you! BLUE OUT for Big Kuntry!"

"From the first time I saw him on the field making plays, I knew he was special—not just as an athlete, but as a respectful, humble young man who inspired everyone around him," Harry Fox, CCMS Head Football and Basketball Coach said. "One of my most cherished memories is his final words to me—asking if I was okay, even as he faced his own battle. That selflessness shows exactly who Joshua was."

Joshua is remembered as an avid football player, with a love for the game. It was his 8th grade year that Joshua was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma. His family describes him as "a soft spoken friend to anyone and was the first to want to help others. Even at a young age."

Joshua will be honored during tonight's football game against Lee Middle that begins at 5:30 p.m. We hope to see you in the Cougar Den rockin' your blue for Big Kuntry!
