Beginning July 1, 2026, the Crisp County School District will implement a district-wide, K–12 Distraction-Free Learning Policy.
Coming Next School Year: A Distraction-Free Learning Environment
During school hours, personal electronic devices will not be allowed. This includes cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, e-readers, headphones, and smart glasses.
To assist students and parents in this transition for the upcoming school year, we have outlined the expectations for success at each school.
Those who choose not to comply with the policy will face the following consequences:
Crisp County Primary School:
Student electronic devices such as cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, headphones, and smart glasses are not allowed on campus. If a student has a cell phone/device, it will be taken up, and a member of administration will contact the family to arrange the return.
Crisp County Elementary School:
Consequences for violation of the Phone Distraction Policy are as follows:
First Offense:
The phone/device is confiscated, held in a secure location by administration, and a legal guardian must come to the school to pick up the device.
Second Offense:
The phone/device is confiscated and held in a secure location by administration. The student will serve one day in ISI, and a legal guardian must come to the school to pick up the device.
Third Offense:
The phone/device will be confiscated and held in a secure location by administration. The student will serve two days in ISI, and a legal guardian must come to the school to pick up the device.
Fourth Offense:
The phone/device will be confiscated and held in a secure location by administration. The student will serve one day of Out-of-School Suspension and one day in ISI. A legal guardian must come to the school to pick up the device.
*Any offenses beyond the fourth offense will result in more punitive consequences at the discretion of administration.
Crisp County Middle School:
1st Offense-Devices will be taken and returned to the parent once a meeting is scheduled with administration to discuss the consequences. Students will receive 1 day of ISI (In School Intervention) for violating the Electronic Device Policy. Also, if students do not give up the device the first time they are instructed to do so there will be a consequence added from the handbook for refusing to obey directives.
2nd Offense-Devices will be taken and returned to the parent once a meeting is scheduled with administration to discuss the consequences. Students will receive 3 days of ISI for violating the Electronic Device Policy. Also, if students do not give up the device the first time they are instructed to do so there will be consequences added from the handbook for refusing to obey directives.
3rd Offense and any future offense-A behavior contract will be implemented outlining the consequences.
Student Exceptions
Students whose IEP, Section 504 Plan, or medical plan requires device use are exempt and may use devices as outlined in their plans. As always, confidentiality and fidelity to student plans remain critical.
Parent Communication
During the school day, parent communication with students should be directed through the front office. Students may access devices during approved extracurricular activities, field trips, and designated times consistent with the Code of Conduct.
